made a puzzled look.Olamma,my daughter taped me.
“mama what can be happening there. .. it’s actually wrong for a prince to stag long in a crowded place like market” olamma said.
“or does he wants to buy something, if he wants to then one of his guards should do that” olamma still said.
“you’re right,this is slightly wrong”
I replied her and tried seeing,
but the crowd got much.
more people trooped in,making it more difficult to see through.
“mama am coming,I want to go and see” olamma said and left,
I watched blarily as she squeezed herself into the crowd.
Ebere’s p.o.v
Ife stayed behind me while I was busy pointing at the things Mrs okafor sent us…
suddenly,the market got quiet and the crowd and piercing eyes got out of hand.
A royal chariot was opposite the place Ife and I where buying stuffs.
what can be happening?
Royalty should be seen in a place like this-
Yet,I admired the chariot.
It smells of wealth in all.
The prince could be seen inside the chariot,his eyes was glued in my direction.
gosh,I got hypnotized.
my prince charming finally arrived.
Ebere a prince is staring at you-
I couldn’t breath well,for I felt so special and happy.
I got heated up that I even forgot I was buying things.I stared back at the prince.
He had this type of dreaming brown eyes,his brows was sharp,his nose nicely pointed and his lips looks soo soft and beautifully pouted.
But he is still not as handsome as Lotanna and Jedinna.
I felt his sight from the chariot, if this is really love at first sight,am glad it came for me.
the crowd got much still,
many maidens were drooling on the prince,
many admired the chariot,
many were there to know what was going on.
I stylishly look in his direction again,
his eyes was looking elsewhere behind me!
gosh and I thought it was me he was staring at .
I sighed as I traced his eyes,it landed on Adeife who was behind my back,
Ife who was busy interacting with the trader since she’s with the money,
someone who doesn’t even care if people are looking at her.
I bite my lips beautifully.
The unknown prince waved at me from his chariot, I could see the rings on his five fingers.
I understand the wave and shift away so he can see Ife clearly.
my eyes caught princess akuna in one side…
“what’s she looking for?…
beside her was olamma- speaking of the she devils.
“is there anything we are buying again?” Ife asked without turning.
“see the prince is staring at you,I think you should go to him” I whispered another thing.
“sir I think this is all what we want to buy” she replied something else.
“Ife see the crowd,everybody is staring at you.Won’t you go to the prince,this is really love at first sight” I said.
“you should see princess akuna’s face right now,even olamma and your step mother are staring” I said.
“happy staring in advance” she replied and untie the place she kept the money.
“Ife what do you see opportunity as, this is what everybody wish for like in folk tales” I said to her.
“let him continue admiring God’s creativity” she replied.
I still turned to the prince direction in the chariot..
gosh,she got proud”
and she’s a maid” I heard olamma
the prince heard “and she is a maid” he got more interested.
He might want to take actions with his control.
I got angry and faced olamma.
“how can you say such things in the public? did you hook your brain alongside your bra” I snapped lowly.
the gossipers were still around staring of course.
“my beautiful maiden,my prince calls for you! one of the royal guard came to Adeife.
Princess Akuna scoffed and strolled away with her crews angrily.
“sir,my change”
Adeife says to the trader as she counts money to pay.
“ohh don’t bother,my maiden” the royal guard said and brought out a huge calabash filled with gold coin.
is this really money?
two girls fainted in the crowd.
I sighed,conniption gripped me also.

the royal guard paid and dropped another gold coin calabash to Ife’s presence.
“can you now see my prince?”
he asked.
Ife stayed quiet.
“he is waiting for you there in the chariot” he said.
Ife shook her head negatively as I pinch her to say yes.
“I don’t want to come,I don’t want your money also” she shakes her head.
“aaahh,don’t mind her she will come” I said,she shot me a glare.
“my prince is waiting,you must have heard of Jedioku kingdom” the guard said..
Adeife stayed quiet,likewise me.
“Jedioku is the third largest and wealthiest,Ife this is a dream come true” I said,in a whisper.
The prince moved out of the chariot and approached our direction,
two girls fainted.
hmmmm,what will happen if they see Lotanna or Jedinna.
“long life my prince” Ife and I bowed.
likewise the people that were near,
I felt that honour.
“can we just talk?” he said.
Ife still stayed quiet,
the stares still got much.
wait,who’s she?
is she a meremaid?
and I always think Akuna is the prettiest!!

I heard things.
I could also feel the glares the prince gave Ife,ohh goodness he is in love!.

two girls passed out.
I pinched Ife to say something.
she raised her head and couldn’t withstand the eyes watching her.
“I do not mean to disrespect anybody but I need to go,the person that sent me message would be worried sick..
can you permit me to leave?”
she asks..
the prince still stared at her, I understand those looks.
Next, he asks he “who is your father in this land”….
everywhere was quite.

“please i need to go” she said in tears and grabbed the two baskets of what we bought,she didn’t only walk out on the prince,she ran away.
murmurs was heard everywhere.
but I pity Ife,why would she walk out.
the guards had wanted to follow her but he stopped them with three simple words.”let her be”.
“for we shall see each other again” he added.
waooow!
this is so unbelievable!
she turned down the prince… .
gosh,and I thought Akuna was the prettiest…

“Adeife” I replied.

I got so many questions.
even the prince was still stunned that she ran away.
I cleared my throat.
Now I have so many gifts for Ife, that girl is really lucky. .
she ran away simply means she is not a cheap person; she have self control and would never get carried away by material things.
I cleared my throat again.
then I bend to carry the calabash that contain money.Even if she doesn’t say yes to the prince,I must gain something by being her friend.
“Umm my prince you don’t need to worry about the money, I will help you speak to her and deliver this money to her” I beamed with a bow..
someone coughed,
I turned sideways and there stood Ngozi with a local bell.
she actually came here to sell and I thought she wasn’t in the crowd..
“scam” she muttered.
I also left the crowd.
Jesus,they sent me message! I ran with all the gifts and of course the money.
Adeife’s p.o.v
I hurried back to the palace,
like I knew,Mrs okafor got so worried she was even about sending guards to look for Ebere and I.
“what made you stayed long?”
she asked.
“umm there were lots of customers there,we had to wait for our turn” I replied and proceed to drop the baskets.
“where’s Ebere?” she asked.
“she’s on her way” I replied.
“but you left together right?” she asked…
I scratched my neck.
“yes..but…” I stammered and stared in a pitiful manner.
one of the maids called her attention, that was how i got freed..
I did my duty and went back to the maids quarter where I met Ebere with so many gifts and that same calabash of money.
“don’t tell me all these are for you”
dumebi said and picked a pair of earring.
“And I love this also” she picked a pair of pretty wrapper.
“common drop it,miss eye service….have you forgotten how you abused me yesterday”
Ebere hissed and hijacked everything from her.
“Ife be fast,we need to talk” she said.
“About what! chioma cuts in.
I rolled my eyeballs and selected what I wanted to wear.
I freshened up and got dressed.
I wanted to go out,Ebere came in.
I cleared my throat.
“hope it’s not about the market?”
I asked.
someone knocked.
“excuse me,who’s Adeife? Princess Akuna wants to see her” the little girl said..
“what did she say I do?” I questioned.
“how am i suppose to know” she replied.

I sighed and followed her.
We reached the garden where she was.She was with her friends.
Ain’t they shameful????
and I wonder if the queen knows their true colours.
i had even wanted to report to her that Akuna always bully me…
but she does not always reply my greetings,how will she now listen to me then?.
“she’s here” the little girl said and went away..

I looked around,no one was there.
Just then footsteps approached, I turned it was Ebere watching us from afar.
I saw Ngozi behind her..
Did she come to see me?? She really came in the wrong time.
I sighed as i faced the bunches of rude and jobless princesses.
“gosh,you don’t know how I felt…. That prince is my dream man,he is my crush.. I actually came to veer market today so that he would notice me…
the most painful part was that he has never said a girl is beautiful, I was shocked when he asked this tramp out openly” one of the princesses burst out.
I couldn’t recognize her cos have not met her before.
“but I didn’t tell him yes..
I ran away…how is it my fault, I didn’t actually went to meet him.He was the one to came to meet me,I was just on my own” I explained.
she stepped forward with her flowing red princess regalia.
she cut a particular leaflet.
“and she still have mouth to talk”

I shot her a glare.
“ohh my god,she looked me with bad eyes” she shouted.
“can you just leave this girl alone for once….this is annoying, she’s pretty she’s pretty,who wouldn’t look.
Am sure your father the king will look” princess sharia said.
Akuna shot her a glare.
The rude princess still approached me with a leaflet..
ohh my gaad,I will get marks today again!…
“Akuna tell your friends to stop”
I said,their servants made me kneel down.

she said furiously and collected the leaflet from the other princess.
I shut my eyes and left myself for her,after all am just a maid..

Akuna quickly had on fake tears. Hope she won’t make me look like a bad person?.
