i gwaked at Arinze,
he doesn’t recognize me as the ugly Adeife and ngozi’s friend.I know he might be confused.
“you’re Ife right?” he asked.

“yes,any problem” I said.
“what’s your full name?” he asked with full attention.
“are you olamma’s step sister”.
he added,he didn’t allow me to answer the first question.

“yes am olamma’s step sister; Adeife” I said.

“Ife what are you still doing there”
Vicky said.

“excuse me,I have somewhere am going” I said to Arinze who was staring like a lost sheep.
what business does he have with me???.

I went to Vicky and we both headed back to the maids quarter where i dropped ebere’s basket.

Arinze’s p.o.v🎺🎺
that pretty girl is Ife;
must be the Ife at the party. gosh and have been searching for her for so long. She’s around me and I didn’t know.
I still turned to look at her,
she has already left.

why would olamma wants me to do such terrible thing to someone as pretty as that,did they fight?.

“you saw her,that’s her” olamma tapped my back.
I turned in full surprise.
“you promise to like what i like and destroy what I hate” she said.

“why are you planning on taking that girl out” I said.
she rolled her eyeballs.
“am not planning of taking her out, I don’t mean killing,I just want you to teach her a lesson and the only lesson that will remain a scar in her heart is her virginity”,
olamma said.

“did she offend you?” I asked.
Olamma kept quiet for a while.
I folded my arms.

“I won’t be able to answer any further questions.Remember I already paid you with one round of doggy yesterday night which you enjoyed in the cold weather” she said.

I smiled as i remember the hot sex scenes. Olamma smiled and handed me a small bottle that was wrapped with a cloth.

“what’s this?” I asked.
“it’s bekwe poison,I misplace the first bottle and have to save to get another one….” she said..

I smiled.

we entered into the golden hall fully,.the place is full of life.
The rites and music made me feel cool,this is more than a feast to me.
I must say the two crowned prince are lucky and i envy them…
“so who will be the next king and till until when will the throne be empty”
I asked.

“everyone knows Lotanna is the rightful owner of the throne….
mother is just being careful enough so there won’t be any fight between her two sons” nkem said.

I poured myself a wine,
a maid dished out a steaming antelope stew sauce for nkem and I.
it was brought in separately.
must be cooked separately as well.

the aroma alone was enticing.
“where’s she?”nkem asked the maid.
the maid bowed.
“sir the maid coordinator asked her not to come out of her room” the maid replied.
nkem signalled,she left.

“can you tell the person that made this to cook more,it’s delicious” I pouted..
*It’s Ife and she has been asked to stay indoors” he said.
“is it Adeife?” I asked..
“you know her name already.If you have an eye on her,you had better take it away” nkem said.
“why??” I said.
“just take your eyes off her” he said.

whatever,I will just use chioma to get her out this night.

finally the feast was over but some where still in the golden hall according to what Ebere said.Guess I missed so much fun because the maids coordinator won’t just allow me to be.

“today is my best nights*.
chioma says as she shakes her button vigorously.
I stood up and went to bath after which I changed into a simple sleeping nightie.
I layed on the bed.
Lotanna said I should come this night,hope i won’t disappoint you tonight.

can I still make it to your room this night??.
I mean when my co maids are still awake,they will suspect me.
my phone rang,
it didn’t ring out since it’s always on silent.

I covered my self with the duvet and picked the call.
💌 baby” he said.
💌 honey,I don’t think i will come oo, the girls are still awake” I said..
💌 but are you fine” he said.
💌 you… are you fine” I asked lowly.
💌 I will only be fine if you can sing in my ears” he said so sweetly.

I quickly end the call when I felt someone come to my bed,I turned it was ebere and I shifted for her to sleep.
“hey your nightie is fine” she says..

“and lucky too” she whispered.
“why?” I said.

“I know you and Lotanna are secretly dating” she whispered.
I quickly turn to her.
“and he likes you,I always see the way he stares at you secretly”,
she said.

she said lowly.
chioma came in again.
“Adeife would you mind following me to the stream side,Mrs okafor sent me message” chioma said.

I shook my head.
“please i won’t take long”
she pleaded..
“what do you want to go and do in the stream side?”I asked.

“ummm…she….I…she asked me to get her fresh scent leaves”
chioma said.
“there is scent leave plant in the palace” I said.
“or are they not fresh enough” I added.

she scratched her neck
then a guard came in.

“Adeife,someone is looking for you outside” the guard said..
“who,am not expecting anybody”
I said…
“your step mother,I guess she have something important to tell you”
the guard said.

“for what! I said in fear as I followed him out.I remembered my dead mother again, I couldn’t help my eyes.
I followed the guard,
he left me alone to onome who was in the palace compound.

“good evening mama”..
I greeted with my lashes bashed.
“same here,my dear” she replied.

wait “my dear”.
is my ears really working.

“pack your things,am here to pick you.I already paid the money back to Tracy”she said.
something cut in my intestine,
my tears came in full.

“I don’t want to go….

“oya die here now,go and get your things fast” she said.
I wiped my tears.
“okay mama I will pack my things but I will first go and ask aunty Tracy”.
I said.

“are you calling me a liar?
“can’t you see I just paid and besides this is the change I collected” she showed me a little sac of money.

“but mama….
my words still come out with tears.
I went on my kneels instantly.
“mama you can do this to me!!!
I started crying.

Just then the queen approached.
aaaah isn’t this the end for me.
“may you live long your highness” onome said.
the queen smiled.
“what’s the matter?” she asked..
and onome got happy.

I cried silently.
mother why did you leave me😭😭

“thank you my queen, I only came here to pick Adeife my late senior wife sister,I still don’t understand the reason why she choose to run away from home for the past months.Can you kindly tell her to pack her things and follow me” onome said.

“I don’t want to go!!!
I started crying..
The queen looked in my side…
“Go and pack your things” onome said…

I knelt down, my tears flowed freely.
“my queen don’t let me go please–
I….I….my mother–”
I started crying again..

“I said go and pack your things!
onome said.
“no my queen—
I cried and wanted to touch her legs.
wait was i high??.

now,she’s my last hope!
I know she will tell me to follow Onome and if I should i won’t live for my mother😭😭😭😭

what eyes will I use to see her?
what hand will I use to touch her?..

“my queen i know am not perfect enough for you…
but please don’t let me follow her!
I said but it still came out with tears.

someone called,I don’t know who it is but it doesn’t sound like Lotanna.

“mother……” another voice which I recognize as Lotanna said.
