June’s pov continues
.
Daniel left minutes after Erick came back and
immediately my therapy started.
Joe wanted it to just be the two of us but Erick of
course didn’t agree to her choice.
Joe didn’t have no choice but to let him join us.
We started out in empty room with different kind of
equipment. The kind of equipment you use for the
disabled to get back on track.
The room was wide and the sun shine perfectly
inside the room brightly making the silver wheelchair I
was sitting glimmer under the rays of sunlight. I feel
like I’m outside.
Joe turned to me and Erick who has been the one
pushing me in my wheelchair around.
“So first we’ll be working with this” Joe said and
pointed to some kind of machine looking kind of like a
wheelchair and a bicycle together.
“Uhm that looks like a circus thing” eridk chuckled.
“and definitely looks pretty expensive” I added.
“So this basically will automatically help you move
your legs. It’ll feel like you’re riding a bicycle where
else it’s just making your leg feel alive again and it’ll
make you blood flow properly and circulate in some
areas that were compressed” joe explained and I
nodded.
“And then after doing this for some days we’ll start
practicing on how to take your first step.” Joe gave a
friendly smile.
“But wait!! First step, I’m a singer and a dancer. If I
take my first step after days of working with that, then
when am I supposed to like take more than one step or
maybe even dance again?” I asked.
“Well that depends on you, if you stay intact, positive,
strong and let your brain know you’re fully charge,
your mind will work with you” Joe stated and I gave
her a look. “Okay…” I said.
I got on the wheel and as Joe pressed a button the
pedal starts to move my leg.
“Wow look at you go! You could win like a bike
riding sport if you keep going” Erick stated and I
rolled my eyes with a smile. “Don’t tease me it can be
true you know” I said and he shrugged. “That I doubt”.
The day went by so quickly and I found myself
laughing throughout that day, Annie came during the
nighttime saying she has been keeping her mom
company and stuff.
Annie left early saying she has to meet someone and I
was left with Erick, Auggie and my grandma.

[] Daniel’s pov []
I was at home, or should I say Erick’s home, rejecting
every call that was entering my phone. I was also
pissed it’s nighttime already and my stupid manager
won’t stop bugging me. clearly I was sad. I was just
rejected and yet I’m still sad even though I know that I
didn’t have a chance but still want June said still struck
me like lightening.
.
*but what I’m a little bit mad about is how you know
you’ll clearly get rejected but you still told me, you
could have just keep it to yourself and get over me,
that way I won’t feel shitty for rejecting someone*
I recalled her words in my head and sighed angrily.
I’m stupid. Erick is clearly at the hospital having a
good time with girlfriend and I’m at home sighing
ruefully over for making a stupid confession, but still
did I really think I have a shot? I must be crazy. The
way she talked to me about how I should have keep it
to myself and get over her was the like the smart thingever. If I know I was going to get over her then why
did I tell her.
I was bored and I felt like slamming my fist into the
wall, I wanted to talk to someone about this, but
realization hit me when I know I don’t have anyone.
Well I do, my manager but I don’t want someone old I
want someone who knows what’s up. Beside Erick I
have no other friend.
I grabbed my phone and check my call history. It was
all Mr Dhousten Erick, my manager all in repetition I
never call anyone else apart from those three. I decided
to check my contact and then there was the first
Name…
Annie.
Well how in the world did I forget I have her amon my
contacts now. She’s around my age and would
probably be great if I talk to her, at least she’s around
my age and she’s definitely not Erick.
I sent her a text message.
*Hi*
She replied ten seconds after
*hi.. Daniel*
*Don’t mind if we meet up do we?* I text back and she
replied immediately.
*Sure… I don’t mind where do you want to meet up*
Thank God she didn’t say no. After sending her the
address she seemed familiar with it I wondered if she
had visited here before.
Thirty minutes later the doorbell went off.
I stood up and went to get the door. I opened the door
and the first thing that brightened up the whole place
was her blue hair.
“Hey” she said with a smile and I let her walk in.
“So it’s pretty late, I wonder why you called me out
here” Annie said placing her purse on the couch.
“Sorry for calling you out so late by the way” I
apologized.
“It’s okay” she shrugged.
“And by the way, you seem to know your way here and
you seem like you’ve been here before.” I said.
“I have, June took me here twice, she said you lived
too here but never have i ever run into you, I only see
Erick.” Annie explained and I nodded.
“That’s because I’m always busy”.
“I know that” she smiled…
We both remained quiet and she looked kind of
uncomfortable with the quietness.
“So here seem a bit suffocating, want to go up to the
roof?” i asked.
“The roof?” she looked surprised.
“Well the roof was built in form of a balcony and stuff,
Erick and I go there a lot, and so does June and Erick
maybe she didn’t tell you about, or maybe it’s nothing
to boast about” I explained and Annie shrugged.
.
Annie and I sat on the roof the stars were gloomy and
not so bright just like me. And the sky was dark and
stupid.
“So… This view is nice” Annie stated.
“Yeah” I agreed with a nod.
“So what do you want to talk about? Cause I have like
a curfew set for me” Annie said with a nervous laugh.
“Well you see I’m kind of feeling haunted.” I said.
Why the hell did I say haunted. Regret would have
been a better word to fill in.
“Haunted? You didn’t kill anyone did you?” Annie
teased and I gave a small smile.
“I didn’t”. I replied. “I wanted to say regretful.”
“Regretful? Why… What happened?” she asked.
I breathed out.
“I confessed my feelings knowing fully well that I’ll
get rejected but I still went on with it, is that right or
selfish of me?” I asked with a sigh.”You…what?… I mean… You… Uhm… Sorry” Annie
seemed a bit surprised.
“Okay you confessed knowing fully well that you’ll get
rejected, well that is normal cause you don’t want to be
weighed down by the feelings you have for that
person. You needed to tell them so you won’t be the
only one at the edge of the knife, so you did nothing
wrong!” Annie gave a small smile.
I scoffed. “I know that’s what I thought until I
confessed and she told me that I confessed knowing
that I’d get rejected and I wanted to lift the weight off
my shoulder not caring that it’ll be on her shoulder
instead. She said the thought of seeing the rejects
feeling dejected was enough to cause a burden. And
that’s just making me feel like an idiot, I didn’t think of
that” I sighed.
“Well that is correct too, I actually felt bad when I had
to reject someone too but still none of us are right or
wrong, we need to let them know we had feelings for
them, it doesn’t matter if we even get over them,
sharing a burden or not we still need to voice out our
feelings”. Annie explained and I nodded.
She’s right.
“So… I can see you’re pissed about that. But be honest
are you pissed about her telling you about the burden
she’ll suddenly start carrying or you’re just really
pissed about being rejected.?” Annie asked looking up
at the sky.
That’s a good question Annie.
“Honestly I think it’s me thinking I have a chance with
her when I don’t” I said and Annie nodded…
We both remained quiet again and God the breeze felt
good up here I started to feel calm. My tense body and
mind started to feel free, it was nice talking it out with
someone, sometimes what you just need is a
conversation.
“So… Daniel!” Annie called and I turned to her.
The breeze wasn’t so friendly with her hair as it made
it dance around her face she countlessly placed it
behind her ear.
“It won’t hurt knowing this girl you like would it?” she
asked with a grin.
“Well it won’t hurt cause you already know her.” I said
with gritted teeth.
“Huh? I do?” she looked surprised.
“You do… It’s June.” I breathed out and when I turned
to her she looked like she has just seen a ghost.
“Pathetic of me right?” I scoffed.
“I know she was with Erick but my stupid feelings for
her grew every single day, I am such a doofus”..
“I hate myself for liking her so much and then telling
her now. I should have just kept my feelings to
myself.” I explained and Annie still haven’t budge a
say a word.
I gave her a look and she blinked rapidly and looked
down.
“Wow. This is huge” she breathed out. “I never thought
you’d ever like June.”
“I went from envying her relationship with Erick to
falling for her, I’m a shenanigan if you ask me” I
scoffed with a bitter chuckle.
“You’re not” Annie shook her head looking down at
her finger.
“Why do we always end up falling in love with people
who doesn’t love us back.!”. Annie sighed.
“annoyingly accurate!” I sighed too.
“And judging from your experience and my
experience… It always have to be our closet friend they
happen to fall in love with” Annie said and let’s out a
small sniff.
“Tell me about it” I scoffed.
I noticed her sniff again and I touched her shoulder…
“Are you okay?” I asked
“I’m fine.” she said and lift her head up. Well thanks to the street light I clearly saw her tears.
“You are definitely not!” I said and she immediately
dried her tears.
“Look I’m fine” she shrugged.
“Looks like you must have had a worse experience
than me, looks like you must have liked someone who
didn’t like you back but your friend and look at you
you’re all fine. But Look at me whining like a little boy
all because I got rejected.” I stated and Annie smiled.
“No its okay, I am not fine but sometimes we don’t
share our problems openly but only by ourselves and
we feel fine that way” Annie said and I nodded.
We both said nothing for the past few minutes, just
thinking about the conversation we just had until
Annie said she has to leave unless she’ll be getting
home before curfew.
We both head downstairs and I escorted her to the
door. Her lashes seem wet… Did she cry again. You
know the type of cry when you don’t let your tears fall
and it just spread across your lashes. I hope she’s okay.
“Okay then good night!” Annie replied and I smiled
before closing the door. I was halfway through the
stairs when I heard the door bell.
I sighed and went back to the door to open.
Annie popped in front of me. With tears in her eyes.
“Annie are you okay?” I was shocked. If I knew, I
wouldn’t have had this conversation with her. Did I
make her recall something she doesn’t want to.
“Okay look” she sniffed. And laughed. “I wanted to
leave but I can’t leave to let you know and now you see
I’m crying like a big baby and I can’t do that anymore.
It hurts when you said you liked June because I’m
always the one who has had feelings for you and this
night you just made me realise our feelings just
bounced back on us.” Annie explained and dried her
eyes.
So when she said why we like people who don’t like us
back, she was talking about me?
“I told you we should always voice out our feelings
and realise I haven’t done mine, so I decided to let you
know, I don’t mind if you reject me and I don’t care if
you think it’ll be a burden you’ll have to start carrying,
but at least I did stick to an advice I told someone. So…
Till then Daniel.”. Annie said and just like that she left.
