Kimberly was drifting into sleep already when she heard the doorbell ring, she stood up reluctantly from the bed and walked to the door in the living room.

She opened the door and met her dad at the doorpost. She was surprised to see him.

“Dad.” She called smiling widely.

“Hey Baby.” He said pulling her into a big hug.

“I missed you, you promised to visit the other day.” She said as she welcomed him in. She locked the door and they both walked to the couch.

They sat facing each other and then her father replied.

“Yes, about that. I didn’t want to come when I know Landon would be around.” He said and Kim creased her brows.

“Why?” she asked and he sighed.

“he is ignorant of what you did for him, and if I see him I would be forced to say something concerning it.” He said and Kim breathed out.

“Father we talked about this.” She said and he nodded.

“I know but I still don’t like it nor agree. Why would you keep something this big from him? You are living on drugs for the rest of your life. You shouldn’t be treated lightly by him.” He said.

“Father I know it’s crazy but I have my reasons. I don’t want him to feel like he owes me something and that is why he should love me. I need to know he loves me because he feels so not because I gave him my kidney.” She said and her Father nodded reluctantly.

“That is good. But you need to tell him as soon as possible, you should have to know if he truly loves you by now.” He said and she smiled.

“I would father, you don’t have to worry. I would let him know.” She said and he smiled faintly.

And how are you faring? Using lots of pills a day?” he asked.

“It is not that bad Father. I am coping.” She replied and he father bowed her head.

“You are coping because you are doing it out of love. I wish your mother is like you? But she never Is. She is just so different.” He said sadly.

“Father I am sorry to say this, but I don’t think I have a mother anymore. Mother came to the hospital, and after knowing I gave out one of my kidneys all she could care about was the money. I am sorry Dad, I know I shouldn’t talk like this about her but I am done with her selfish act. I can’t take it anymore, so to me, I don’t have a mother.” She muttered and Peter sighed.

“ I know it is annoying and if I had known, I wouldn’t have married her. I never knew she loved money this much until I lost my job. I couldn’t talk to her as her husband anymore. She would always remind me of my misfortune.”

“she never remembered the times I had and always spent on her. That is the most hurting part.” He narrated in a shaky voice and tears filled his eyes.

“Father I know how hard it is, but can’t you just ignore her?” She asked and he nodded.

“I am doing that. I was trying to avoid the conversation she was about to bring up when I got up and came down here.” He said and she looked at him.

“and what was that about?” She asked.

“About you, Landon, the kidney, and many more like that. She also reported me to you but I just kept mute.” He said and Kim rolled her eyes.

“All my life, all I ever wanted was to have a very caring mother. A one I could run to in times of need and would pull me into her arms. But I got the direct opposite of what I wanted.” Kim mumbled in a shaky voice.

“I don’t want you to hate your mother no matter what she has done.” He said and Kim bowed her head.

“I don’t want to, but I just can’t control the hatred I feel inside.” She muttered in agony.

“Come here.” He said pulling her into his arms and hugging her.

“Don’t worry Kim. Everything would be just fine okay?” he asked and she nodded.

“Father what would you like to eat? I can make something for you.” She said and he shook his head.

“You don’t have to do that. I am still very okay.” He said smiling.

“Are you sure?” she asked looking up to his face and he nodded.

“100%.” He said and she smiled resting in his arms for more minutes.

Landon walked to the office, he was stressed out by attending just a meeting already. Ruby noticed this and she quickly helped him round off.

“Thanks for earlier Ruby. I needed that break.” He said to her as she walked into the office carrying the files.

“I noticed you needed a break that’s why. I would leave you to rest now.” She said dropping the files on the table then she turned to leave.

“Ruby.” He called and she paused without looking back.

“About this morning.” He said and she turned her head to look at him slightly.

“I am sorry if it went too far.” He added and she turned completely to look at him.

“it is nothing Sir, I understand that I went too far with your girlfriend and I promise it won’t happen again.” She said and he nodded.

“If you can promise me that, then your work is safe.” He said and she smiled faintly.

“Okay. I would take my leave now.” She said and as she turned to open the door, the door opened and Landon’s lawyer walked in.

“Hey Daniel.” She greeted smiling widely.

“Hey… hey.” He responded smiling widely too. They stared at each other for some minutes before she finally moved out of the office.

“What was that?” Landon teased and Daniel laughed.

“She greeted me, that is so strange.” He said walking to the chair and sitting down.

“Why? Doesn’t she greet you?” he asked and he shook his head.

“She doesn’t. She acts like she doesn’t even see me at all. She has taught me so many times staring at her but she refused to act as she sees me.” He said and Landon laughed.

“looks like you are finally a step ahead,” Landon replied and Daniel laughed.

“Did you talk to her or something?” He further asked and he shook his head.

“I haven’t discussed about you with her. Maybe she is beginning to like you too, who knows?” Landon asked and Daniel smiled widely.

“I would try shooting my shot. I came here just to see her.” He said and Landon smiled.

“I won’t stop you, friend. Go get her.” Landon said and Daniel got up and walked to the door. He turned to look at Landon one last time.

“Pray for me.” He said and Landon busted into laughter.

“God is with you,” Landon replied and Daniel laughed walking out of his office nervously.
