Francisco took his time to observe her facial expression, he smiled as he got an idea of what to do.

If he can get her to work for him, she is going to read him stories until he falls asleep. That’s such a perfect idea, he is going to pay her a huge amount so she does not say no.

“Will you accept a job offer?” He asked and she raise her head to stare at him, she wanted to know if he was joking or not.

When he didn’t get a response he decided to ask, “you heard me right?”. ” I am not going to work in the broadcasting station, don’t try to convince me,” she said with the thought he is going to convince her to work there again.

“No I am not going to force you to do that,” he said. “Then what job offer are you talking about?” She asked.

“Work for me,” he blurted. “Work for you?” She asked and he nodded.

“I can’t,” she replied. “Why? I haven’t even told you where you are going to work,” he said.

“I know you will either ask me to work as your secretary or a maid, and I don’t want any of that,” she said. “Why? I mean you do have a reason,” he stated.

“I would have loved to work as a secretary, but I don’t have the proper certificate to work to do that, I just don’t want to work as a maid,” she replied.

He stared at her without saying a word, she lick her ice cream and he chuckle. She turned to face him and asked, “what’s funny? Is there something on my face?”

“You are funny,” he answered and she furrowed get brows. “Me? Why do you say that?” she asked?

“Why will I want a gorgeous lady like you to work as a maid? Even if you want to work as one, I’ll be the first person to stop you,” he said.

‘Gorgeous? He called me gorgeous,’ her cheek turned red as she thought. ‘But if he isn’t giving me a work as a maid then he wont employ as his secretary?’ She wondered inwardly.

“What job offer do you have then?” She asked. “Work as my friend,” he said.

She burst into laughter, he understood why she laughed so he just watched with his face void of emotion. She held her stomach dropping the ice cream as she laughed so hard.

“You are serious,” she said after observing his face. “Yes,” he answered, she began to laugh again, people began to wonder what was wrong.

“Okay…. Now I know you are serious, is there a job called friend?” She asked. “Maybe there wasn’t but now it is,” he replied.

“You want me to work as your friend, tell me, what am I going to do as your FRIEND?” She inquired stressing the word friend.

“I only need you at night,” he said and her eyes widened in astonishment. “Night!” She screamed already standing.

“Friends with benefit?” She asked in terror. “Benefit? No that is not what I meant, no-no. You misunderstood me,” he defended pulling her to sit on the same spot she stood up from.

“You don’t understand me,” he said. “Then explain yourself,” she requested.

“I like your programme because it is hosted at night, I need you to read me stories or books. All I need is to hear your voice until I sleep,” he explained.

“Are you a kid? Why do you need me to read you bedtime stories? Get a nanny,” she spat, he would have picked offence in his words but he requires her help.

“I am not going to work for you,” she stated. He knew she was nervous, he would be if he was in her position too.

“I’m sick,” he blurted. “Are you dying soon?” She asked in her lowest voice. “No, not that type. I have insomnia, I’m sure you understand what that means?” He asked.

“Yes,” she answered. “Your voice heals me, it’s like my cure, I fall asleep when I listen to your voice,” he said.

“My voice is like your medicine?” She asked with her hand on her throat. “Yes,” he answered.

She sighed and stared at the crowd in front of them, how can her voice be a solution to someone’s problem? Her voice is magical? She wondered still staring at space.

“When did you find out?” She asked. “A few days ago,” he answered. “You are a fan of my voice, not my program,” she asked and he nodded.

“Too bad, I thought you liked my program,” she pouted sadly. “Are you going to do it?” He asked.

“I’m not….” She was interrupted by him. “Don’t make rash decisions, I am going to pay you 500, 000 $, monthly bonuses, you are going to live with me, and free food,” he stated.

“All that just to make you sleep?” She asked. “Yes, name what you want and I will add it to the list,” he said.

“Anything?” She asked. “Anything,” he replied. “Are you sure you don’t want to rethink?” She asked with a mischievous grin.

“I don’t want to,” he answered. “Okay, I want a penthouse in Paris, a new car, and a private helicopter, I also want to go to school,” she mentioned.

It was his time to laugh, he laughed to his heart’s content. “I told you to give it a second thought,” she said.

“Is that all you want?” He asked. “You are going to do it?” She asked. “Consider it done,” he said and she gasp.

“Hey! You take jokes too seriously, I was just joking. I don’t want any of that, I just need my salary, food, and a comfortable bed to sleep in,” she stated.

“I can those too,” he said. “No I will feel guilty, I just need those,” she said. “Is that a yes, you will work for me?” He asked.

“Yeah, it’s a yes,” she announced and he hugged her. “Thank you, Thea, thank you so much!” He almost screamed as he hugged her.

“It’s fine, and you should let go of me,” she said and he slowly let go. “Thanks so much, I promise to give you all you need,” he said with a huge smile on his face.

“You actually sound like a broken-hearted boy,” she chuckles and he caresses her hand. “Thank you so much, this means a lot to me,” he said and she nodded, slowly withdrawing her hand from his.

“So what else are we going to do? Wanna ride a roller coaster?” She teased. “No way,” he almost screamed.

She started laughing and after a while, he joined, his phone beep indicating a message. He tap on it to open it, it was from April it says:

~They just arrive at the airport, you should come to the office~

“Thea I think we should head home,” he said. “Are we friends already?” She asked.

“I guess, why do you ask?” He asked. “You address me informally,” she answered.

“My bad, Miss Robert,” he corrected. “It’s fine, I like it when you call me by my name. I will just call you Francisco,” she said.

“Cisco is fine,” he said and she smiled. “I have to be somewhere,” he added. “It’s fine, I should head home too,” she said.

“I will drop you home,” he offered. “You don’t have to, what you are about to attend to must be important,” she said getting up.

“It’s not as important as my friend,” he said and she chuckled. “Your lines are good,” she compliment and he winked which made her smile.

“But you should really go,” she added. “How are you going to get home?” He asked.

“Board a cab,” she answered. “I brought you here, it is my responsibility to take you home,” he said getting up too.

“If you insist,” she mutter and he lead the way, she followed behind. There was silence between them as they strolled out of the park towards the car.

They didn’t say a word to each other as he drove, “where do you live?” He asked breaking the silence.

“Uhh, ohh turn on your right,” she said and he did, she kept motioning with her hand until they got to her house.

“Can you start tonight?” He asked. “What?” She asked with a furrowed brows. “Being my friend” he answered.

“Ohh, will tomorrow night be fine? I live with my friend, I have to explain to her and pack my stuffs,” she explained.

“Alright, tomorrow night it is, can I have your number?” He asked. “My number?” She repeated.

“Yeah, I can’t sleep without hearing your voice,” he reminded. “Okay,” she said and stretch her hand forwards for his phone.

He gave it to her and she typed her number and returned the phone to him. “I will call you tonight,” he said and her cheek flamed up.

“Ummm, Cisco… Won’t your fiancee misinterprete things if we live together and come out of your room every night?” She asked.
