“You are crossing a boundary avia,” Greg warned, he is trying his best to keep cool but his stubborn wife isn’t giving him a chance to.
“Never knew a boundary was drawn, he is your biological brother for crying out loud,” she spat. “I don’t care if he is a god, I don’t like Cisco and I will never ask for his help. I can solve my problems,” he retorted.
“Flora’s birthday is coming up in few weeks,” she said. “Humm,” he hummed in response which got Octavia confused, she turned to him with a confused expression.
“Humm? Is that all you can say? Is that even a word?” She wondered. “I need to work,” he said giving the book in his hand more concentration.
“Yeah, go ahead and work but be sure to earn lots of money ’cause she wants to throw a party,” she said.
“We throw a party every year, don’t we?” He asked. “Not that type of party, she wants a grand party the type her uncle Cisco can throw her,” she blurted.
“She didn’t say that my baby girl isn’t a gold digger,” he uttered confidently. “Of course she’s not, it’s her uncle who’s sponsoring her birthday anyway,” she said simply.
“Good night,” she pecks her husband before getting into bed. Greg just watches finding her hard to believe, after making it known to her that he doesn’t want his little brother’s help in his family affair, his wife still wants to contact him.
He concentrated on his work not letting whatever it is that just happened to bother him.
Flora could be seen sitting at the dining table, dressed in her school uniform, and waiting for her parent the next day.
“Are you sure you don’t want to eat? You might go to school late,” the only maid in their house told her with her hands on her shoulder.
“I’m fine Naomi,” she replied, her parents finally came out of their room and came to the dining table.
“Good morning mom and dad,” Flora greeted. “Morning princess,” Greg replied. “Morning sweetie,” Octavia replied too.
“Dad It’s my birthday in a few weeks, you remember don’t you?” She asked as Naomi served the food.
“Of course, you can’t possibly expect me to forget my princess birthday, it will be considered a great offence,” he joked and pinch her cheek playfully which she giggled in return.
“I will be turning five,” she informed. “Wow you are growing so fast,” he exclaimed cupping her cheeks.
“I know which is why I want to celebrate my fifth year birthday, I know we can’t afford It but uncle Cisco can,” she blurted as the table became quiet.
“Princess, are you saying dad is poor? Dad is not working hard enough to provide for you?” He asked.
“No, dad is doing his best and I love him but uncle Cisco is richer than Dad,” she stated innocently.
“Richer? Are you even listening to yourself?!” He snarled. “Gregory!” Octavia snapped.
Little Flora was scared of her father’s sudden change in behavior, he took a deep breath and held her daughter’s shaking hand.
“I’m sorry princess,” he apologized in a calm and sweet voice. “Naomi, I’m going to be late, don’t you think?” She asked and slowly withdraw her tiny hand from her father’s grip.
“Goodbye Daddy, bye-bye mommy,” she rushed her words as she rushed to her room, Naomi followed and helped her with her things.
“I’ll drive you, princess,” Octavia volunteered and got up, she rushed to her room to get the car keys.
She held her daughter’s hand as they walked out of the house together. Flora just sat in the back seat not saying a word, she took one of her textbooks and started reading.
“Flora are you okay?” Octavia asked staring at her through the reverse mirror. “Yes mommy,” she answered with her gaze still on the textbook.
“Are you mad at daddy?” She asked. “No,” she replied.
“Then is it at mommy?” She asked. “Mommy did nothing wrong,” she said.
“Why are you quiet then?” Octavia asked. “Daddy hates uncle Cisco,” she blurted.
“What? Who told you that? It’s not true, why will your daddy hate uncle Cisco?” She asked rhetorically but Flora answered.
“I don’t know, daddy doesn’t like talking about him. Is he jealous of his wealth?” Flora asked.
“Flora none of that is true, your dad and uncle are good buddies. There is just a little misunderstanding which I’m sure they will clear soon,” she assured.
“Why is it that far doesn’t want uncle to throw me a party?” She questioned. “Your dad wants you to be satisfied with what you have,” she said and they made indirect eye contact through the reverse mirror.
“I will be,” she assured. “Thank you, princess, now get rid of that sour face mom doesn’t like it,” she said with a funny pout and Flora laughed.
*********
Thea ate silently at the dining table, she was thinking about Vin. She misses him for some unknown reason she picked up her phone and decided to call him.
“Do you miss me that much?” She heard Vin’s voice ask. She raised her head to see him sitting in front of him, it is her imagination but she cared less.
She dropped her phone and rested her chin on her hand, “what are you doing?” Vin asked.
“How can you be so handsome?” She asked and he chuckle. “Are you sure? I once heard that I’m ugly,” he joked.
“The person should get an eye surgery,” she said and he bit his lower lip. “Damn those like must taste good,” she muttered.
“Wanna taste it?” He asked and winked. “Thea! Miss are you still in this universe? Thea Robert!” Mavis’s voice screamed but it sounded like a whisper to Thea.
She just smiled while Mavis tried to shake her out of her thoughts, “Theeeeaaa!!” She screamed.
“I’m right here you know,” Thea said nonchalantly, she is trying to hide the fact that she was lost in thought.
“Your body is here but I doubt your spirit,” she replied. “What are you talking about?” She asked.
“When next you visit aunt bring me with you, I have to make sure you get checked,” she said.
“You are at it again,” Thea frowned. “You were blushing while staring into space,” Mavis blurted.
“I wasn’t, I think it is you who should get her eyes checked,” she snapped. “Were you thinking about Francisco King?” Mavis gasp.
“Why will I think about him?” She scoffed. “You will be living with him starting today, literally sleeping in the same room. You have thousands of reasons to have naughty thoughts about him,” she stated.
“Miss thought, I was not thinking about him let alone have naughty thought,” she said and rolled her eyes.
She is suddenly mad at Mavis for snapping her to reality, if she had not Vin might have kissed her. It isn’t even real Vincent but it’s fine as she gets kissed, Mavis’s words rang in her head.
‘Get your lips disvirgin,’ She imagined Mavis whispering to her ears. “Stop sticking your nose into my business!” Thea snapped angrily taking a handful of her hair.
“Who are you talking to?” Mavis who was coming from the kitchen with a mug containing coffee asked. “Myself?” She asks with a weird smile.
“You should visit the hospital and recommend admission for yourself,” she said and pecked Thea’s cheek before leaving.
“What has gotten into me?” She asked herself.
Later at night Thea and Mavis sat on the couch with their phones in their hands, “When are you going to leave?” Mavis asked.
“Have you been hoping for me to leave?” Thea asked. “Nope just asking, he’s taking too long to get here,” she replied.
“Yeah,” Thea muttered. “You should call him,” Mavis suggested.
Thea was sitting close to the window so she was just glancing outside when she heard a car stop. “I don’t think that’s necessary he’s here,” she said.
“Really? I’ll help with your things,” Mavis said excitedly and rushed to get her bag. “I have a feeling you were going to throw me out if I didn’t get a job,” she said following her, the only thing Mavis left for her is a small handbag.
“I am Mavis Thea’s best friend,” Thea heard Mavis introduce herself as she got closer. “Francisco,” Cisco replied.
“You don’t have to introduce yourself, I mean everyone knows who you are,” she said and he smiled.
“You broke up with your girlfriend right?” She asked and Thea understood why she was excited about Cisco picking her up.
“You can call it that,” he chuckles. “I am single so is Thea but she isn’t ready for a relationship and I am,” she said and Cisco’s expression changed from neutral to confused.
“I don’t understand,” he uttered. “What Mavis is trying to say is that you are both singles so she understands how you feel,” Thea said holding Mavis’s arm.
“Huh? That is not what I meant,” Mavis denied.
