Cisco was expecting the normal programme to start but it didn’t, another programme was going on instead of ‘When love hurts.’
He was confused, how is he expected to sleep when he can’t hear the voice he is addicted to. He ran his hand through his hair as he checked the time, it was already nine-thirty (9:30 pm).
The new programme ended and announcement was made, they apologized for not informing their listeners about the recent change.
They said ‘when love hurts’ will no longer be aired that a new programme has replaced it. “That can’t be, you guys are bluffing! You just can’t cancel a show that I like!” Cisco scolded the radio.
He felt tears form in his eyes, he just can’t help it, he feels so helpless. After years of sleepless nights, he finally found a solution, and these people decided to take it away from him out of the blue, they are joking, it can’t be the truth.
He face-palm himself as he stared at the wall clock beside his bed, it was already ten (10:00 pm). He wondered how he was going to survive that long night again.
He was so happy when he slept, he thought his life was going to be perfect again. He was so grateful to Allison and Vin, if Allison had not turned him down, Vin wouldn’t have brought a solution to his love life which happened to change his life entirely.
He got out of bed and went into the bathroom, he washed his face and stared at his face in the mirror, “why does history keep repeating itself?” He asked. “I guess it going to be another long boring night,” he mumbled as he walked out of the bathroom.
He took his laptop and sat on the couch, he got some documents from his drawer too and started working.
*********
“Give him 100 mils of aspirin and watched him for two hours,” Dr. Malcolm ordered the nurse nostanding in front of him. “Yes doc,” she responds. “The appendix patient in ER change his medicine from four-hourly to six-hourly,” he said and the nurse nodded.
“Get to work,” he said and the nurse walked away, she bumped into Cisco on her way out. “Good morning sir,” she greeted.
“Morning,” he replied swiftly and rushed towards Malcolm who was going through a patient chat. “We have a problem,” Cisco said.
“I don’t have a problem but you might,” he replied. “They stopped the program,” he blurted. “What program?” Dr. Malcolm inquired.
“The radio program, my cure,” he answered. “What about it?” He asked. “It’s canceled, I couldn’t sleep yesterday,” he said taking a seat on the chair on the other side of the desk.
“I thought the radio was your cure,” he said. “It’s the voice,” Cisco replied. “What am I going to do? My insomnia is back,” he added sadly.
“Admit that I’m smart and I will give you a solution,” he said. “I don’t have time to joke, this is a life or death situation,” Cisco said with a serious expression.
“I know and my job is to save lives on the verge of death,” he replied. “Fine, you are smart,” Cisco admitted. “I am going to kill you if you can’t give a solution,” he threatened.
“I don’t make a fool out of people,” Dr. Malcolml said and Cisco rolled his eyes. “Here,” he dropped a recorder on the table.
“What’s this?” Cisco asked picking it up. “It has the voice in it, I record it the previous night,” he replied.
Cisco played it and the only voice he has been dying to hear spoke, he smiled as he hugged the recorder. “Am smart, aren’t I?” He asked.
“One more thing I will find the voice for you,” Doctor Malcolm said.
“I’ll give it to you, you are smart,” Cisco praised him and he blushed. “I’ve got to get to work, see you when I need you,” Cisco said and he frowned.
“You always show up when you have a problem,” he muttered. “Patients visit hospitals when they are sick,” he replied and winked before leaving his office.
His phone rang on his way out, it was his father. He picked it up, “Good morning dad,” he greeted.
“Come home,” Mr. Kings said and cut the call. “Greg took after him,” he muttered returning the phone to his pocket.
*********
“Francisco!” Mrs. Kings called as she rushed to hug him. “Mom,” he smiles and reciprocates the hug. “Why didn’t you call me? Your brother said you looked happy yesterday and I wanted to talk to you but your phone was switched off,” she complained.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized as they disengage from the hug. “It’s fine, are you back with Allison?” She asks.
“No,” he shook his head. “Your dad is going to be mad,” she whispered. “Where is he?” He asked. “In the room, waiting for you,” she answered.
He nodded and walked past her, he took slow steps as he got closer to the door. He opened it slowly and found his father standing by the window, he was facing outside with his hands interlocked behind him.
“Dad,” he called as he walked into the room. “Are you and Allison okay?” Me Kings asked.
“No dad,” he replied. “Why?!” His voice got deeper and the air for colder. “I’ve been busy,” he replied.
“With what?” He asked. “Work,” Cisco replied. “You had time to have dinner with your brother but you couldn’t spare your girlfriend a minute,” he said icily as he turned to face him.
His eyes were dark like that of a kung fu teacher whose students lost an international match. That look sent a cold shiver down Cisco’s spine, he tried to avoid his father’s gaze but he just couldn’t look away.
“I texted her but she told me she was busy,” he replied. “Text?! You should have gone in person, aren’t you hurt that she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life with you?” He asked.
“Dad,” he called. “I want you to visit Allison,” he said in an authoritative tone. Cisco nodded and walked out of the room. Mrs. Kings was not in the living room so he left without saying goodbye.
He drove to Allison’s agency, and thanks to her hashtag on Instagram he was able to find her, lots of people who he assume to be Allison’s fans were standing in front of the agency.
He entered without anyone’s awareness, the security was busy trying to keep the fans away.
He went straight upstairs, he found Allison having a photoshoot. “We three minutes break,” the photographer informed, and Johnny rushed to give Allison a bottle of water.
“Your boyfriend is here,” Johnny whispered to her ear and she scan the room with her eyes. He was standing at a safe distance.
“Step away,” Allison said and Johnny moved away, she stood up and walked toward him. “What brings you here?” She asks.
“We have to talk,” he replied and she led the way. “Isn’t that Allison’s boyfriend?” A girl asked pointing at Cisco. “He would be her fiancee if she wasn’t so full of herself,” another girl added.
Cisco heard them and ignored them, Allison led him to her dressing room, “I believe whatever you have to say is going to be brief, so there’s no point in sitting down,” she said with her hands folded below her breast.
“Yeah it’s about the other night,” he started. “What about it?” She asked feigning innocence.
“You turned me down,” he reminded. “It was a yes or no answer, you should have expected either of the two,” she said nonchalantly.
“You could have done that privately,” he said walking closer. “And what? Have your parents think we are okay? I am sick of pretending,” she blurted.
“Call it off,” he suggested. “What?” She scoff surprised. “We don’t love each other, do we? Why not end things?” He asked.
“Have you lost your mind?” She asked with her eyes widened, she was not expecting him to say that. “Why? Isn’t that the right thing to do? You said no because you don’t love me,” he said with an expressionless face.
“Even if I don’t love you, we can’t break up,” she said taking slow steps toward him. He maintained the eye contact he have with her, he is confused but he was not the type to show his expression.

Thea sat on the couch lost in thought of what to do with her life, it was going to be another jobless day for her. Mavis had already gone to work, she did the chores but it was not enough to waste her time.
She can’t even apply for a job, her life is the definition of the worst. She took her phone and decided to find an online job, maybe she can work from home.
She was surfing the Internet when her phone rang, it was an unknown number so she was hesitant in picking it up.
