Valerie dizily followed him, her bag with her.
Only God knows where he was taking her, but where ever it was, she hoped it wasn’t somewhere she wouldn’t like or have to do nasty things.
They walked out of the house and she noticed he was taking her towards a car.
“Are we… going out?” She asked from behind, but he didn’t look at her or respond.
His steps were steady and calm, and for a moment, Valerie almost drooled on him – at how cute he was. But hell no. He was a jerk and all she should be thinking about at the moment is getting him to take these spots off her face so she could finally be free from him. Yes, that should be the only thing on her mind.
They got to the car and Jericho ushered her to go in while he turned around to take the driver’s seat. Valerie did as he said and in no time, they were driving out o the compound.
“Will I be going home from there?” She wanted to ask him, but quickly swallowed down the question, knowing she was only gonna be wasting her time cause he was never going to reply her.
Whatever it was, she was sure she’d be home at last.
Jericho turned on the car’s FM to entertain them in their silence, but Valerie only saw it as noise. She’s never been a fan of music – never.
The drive was a little long but finally, they came to a stop.
She looked out the window and discovered they were coming to a mall. Huh? So he brought for some shopping or what?
“Get out” Jericho instructed as he stepped out from his own side and Valerie also did same.
This guy – really doesn’t know how to make use of words. What the hell is get out?
Jericho paused and brought out a stick from his cigarette pack, lit it and stuck it into his mouth and after that, continued working with Valerie behind him like a puppy.
Why was he actually smoking when he knows he was going to the mall? Valerie thought.
They got to the door and was about walking in, but the security stopped them.
“Sorry sir, but you can’t smoke in there. You’ll need to put out your…”
“I don’t need your opinion” Jericho scoffed and tried going in, but the security stopped him, holding him by the arm.
Goodness! What’s wrong with this guy?
“If you don’t get your filthy hands off me this instance, I’ll destroy the last kidney you have” he blurted and the security’s eyes dimmed.
Hold on…he’s having just one kidney?? And how the hell did Jericho know about it??
Immediately, he let go of his arm and Jericho smirked and walked in, while I pondered. Who the hell is this guy?
*

I walked into the mall with him and he asked me to take the shopping basket while he moved around freely with his litted cigarette. Although, the rest of the customers in the mall kept stealing glances at him, wondering why he was smoking there, but none of them could go on and question him.
And thinking about it, there was something about this guy – a darkness around him that scared people and I really don’t know why I didn’t notice all these the night I spilled his drink. Seriously, where were my eyes?
He took out the things he wanted – beverages, more cigarette packs, snacks, expensive wines…Goodness! And I was the one holding the heavy basket. Could this guy be more disrespectful?
Anyway, Valerie would say she was glad because she probably didn’t have any acquaintance there. Else, she wouldn’t know what to do if someone was to see her with the spots all over her face, and running an errand girl for the jerk. It’d definitely ruin her image!

They spent a long time in the mall and when they were done, they took it to the cashier, Jericho paid for it and they left.
“Take them to the boot. I’ll be there soon” Jericho instructed her as he brought out his phone and Valerie just rolled her eyes and proceeded to the car. When would she get home, huh?
She opened the boot and was about dropping the shopping bags in when she saw something alarming, soemthing that made her freeze.
It was Lincoln and Ivy – coming out of a car together on the other side of the road.
Lincoln had stepped out of the driver’s seat and went round to meet Ivy on the other side of the car and they stood at a close proximity – talking and laughing.
Valerie felt her heart tearing up as she watched the view. What the hell were they doing together? She could remember Lincoln had told her nothing was going on between himself and Ivy. But why were they together, in such a far away place?
She was lost staring at them and had completely forgotten Jericho asked her to put some things in the boot. He actually showed up and stood beside her, but she couldn’t even notice and slowly, he traced her eyes to the direction of the young couples across the road.
“Valerie” he called and she jolted out of her thoughts, her eyes looking dazed. She had a dilemmatic shock all over her face as she stared at Jericho. Then, she sniffed and put the bags into the boot afterwards, closing it up.
She walked back to the car and took the front seat and as she did, she felt tears threatening to spill her eyes.
Was that the reason he’d be snubbing her calls? He didn’t even call her the previous night like he used to. He didn’t call her that morning. And even when she called him, he didn’t pick nor return her calls.
She had actually consoled herself with the fact he might busy, but there he was -with Ivy, talking and laughing? Seriously?
She stared down at her nails and fiddled with them as the door opened and Jericho walked in.
“Please, take me home” she was trying so hard to make her voice less – whimpering. “I don’t wanna go elsewhere. Just start the car and take me home already. Please”.
For the first time in seven years, Jericho felt cold. He’s always been acting cold, but this time around, he felt it.
He turned his eyes away from Valerie and faced the sterling. Then, he shrugged and started the car and as he did, Valerie wept silently.

It didn’t occur to her it was her house and Jericho had probably never been there before. And since her mind was blurred, it also didn’t occur to her he was taking her the right direction.
She wept silently, trying as much as possible not to make a sound, and she was equally grateful that the corner of the car where she occupied was completely dark. So, Jericho wouldn’t have to notice her mood.
She hated it when she was on the loosing side. The b!tch – Ivy. She was obviously trying to get back at her by taking Lincoln away and she couldn’t even do anything about it because of the stupid spots on her face.
She felt she was losing him already. How could he ignore her for so many hours, but have time to hang out with her rival? Seriously?? And he’d promised her he was never going to meet up with Ivy ever again. Has he been lying to her the whole time?
So many angry thoughts kept flashing through her mind until finally, the car came to a stop and she looked from the dark windscreen to see they were outside her gate. That was when the question occured to her – how did Jericho get to know the location?
She sniffed and took her bag from beside her, not wanting to rack her head over it. She wasn’t even going to say a word to him or anything, but when she tried opening her door, she discovered she couldn’t. It wasn’t locked, but she couldn’t open it.
Huh?
She turned to look at Jericho and found him staring at the winscreeen.
“Who’s he? Your boyfriend?” He looked at her and asked and Valerie felt her brows arch.
She hesitated a little.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” she replied him and tried leaving the car, but again, the door wouldn’t open.
“Please, could you just un-do whatever it is you’ve done and let me out?” She asked feebly.
One could easily tell she was really tired.
“Not until you tell me what I want” Jericho replied, not minding the fact he was really stepping on her already hurting toes.
Valerie sighed and stared down at her laps.
“You know, you’re one amazing girl, Valerie” Jericho chuckled. “You act like you’re above everyone else in the world, but here you are – crying over a son of a b!tch”.
“Lincoln isn’t a son of a b!tch, okay! So watch your tongue” she snapped at him, surprised at her own reaction.
Goodness! What’s wrong with her, anyway? That’s the same guy she just caught cheating on her some minutes ago.
“Go on, let it out. You can scream all you want and let go of that anger” Jericho said sarcastically and she bursted into tears.
“This is all your fault” she whimpered, still staring down at her laps.
“If you had taken these spots off my face, he wouldn’t have to be with another woman”.
Jericho kept mute for a long time and just watched her weep. The sound of her sobs filled the car.
“It’s been barely 72 hours and he’s already hovering over another woman” he suddenly said. “I may not have a single idea of what love is, but something in my guts tells me that guy does not love you. Klaus is the angel of love. When I get home, I’ll definitely ask him” .
Valerie looked at him and scoffed. What the heck is he talking about?
“Please, just let me go” she sniffed and said, taking a deep breath.
“Fine. I’ll do that as soon as you smile” he said and Valerie looked at him like he had gone nuts.
“I really don’t have time for these games. Please…”
“It isn’t a game. I have my reasons” he replied and confusion took over her.
What reasons?
She turned to the door and tried opening it on her own again, but it still didn’t work out.
“Please, please!” She turned back to him and said frustratedly.
“This time around, I’m not asking for s.ex, but just a smile. Would that make you look cheap as well?” He asked and she covered her lips with her palm as the smile forced up the corners of the her mouth.
Her eyes beamed when she noticed she had smiled indeed, they beamed at Jericho
Then, she quickly turned to the door again and tried opening it and this time around, it opened – thankfully.
And without hesitation, she stepped out and rushed towards the gate. She knocked on it and the gateman opened up briefly, then she rushed into the house.
Hold on, her car!! She left it there at his house again! And now, she had two cars there with him.
Oh goodness! Would this ever get any better?
*************
She walked into the sitting room and met her mum a little busy there
“Valerie, you got me almost worried. Where have you been all morning?” Mrs Waltson asked, wrapping the sheets she had with her.
“I’m sorry mum, I just…” She paused and sighed. “I’ve been hooked up with something. But I need a shower now” she answered tiredly and turned towards the stairs.
A maid was climbing down with some drinks and not being careful, she almost bumped into Valerie when she tried climbing the stairs.
She didn’t completely bump into her, but a little of the drink spilled on her dress.
“Oh, good angels!!” The maid exclaimed, knowing she was dead.
She went on her knees immediately.
“I’m so sorry, ma’am. I’m so sorry, please. It…it wasn’t intentional. I just…I was in a hurry, that’s all” she gibbered.
Valerie looked at the maid, looked at her slightly stained dress, then she just sighed and took the stairs.
