Minutes later, Valerie stood up from the floor washed her hands and face and returned to the bedroom.
Her head was spinning terribly, she felt like throwing up.
And goodness! She really didn’t want to fall ill – not at that time when she was about getting the job she’s always wanted.
About sitting on the bed, she spotted the gold necklace and picked it up. Oh…It must’ve fallen of her neck while she was asleep because she already had it on.
She sat on the bed, the necklace in her hands and a rueful smile on her lips as she stared at it.
Jericho.
That was the gift he’d given to her just before he left. And although it’s been two months already, it always reminded her of him each time she looked at it.
Gosh! She missed him; so terribly. It might sound insane, but yes, she really did miss him a lot.
She always reminisced on the little time they’d spent together – the days she had to work as his maid, their time at the bar, the park, when they had to trek and even when they….The thought always made her blush so hard.
She sighed and locked the necklace around her neck, then went to the mirror to have a look. It was still as beautiful as always with the pendant having the letter “S”.
It’s been 2 months now and with each passing day, she tried to get used to the fact that he was never coming back. But sometimes, she couldn’t help but wonder where he was and how he was doing at his planet.
She’s missed him – no doubt.
A small smile touched her lips as she smiled and walked towards the door and as she did, the heavy headache came hitting hard at her again.

She climbed down the staircase, her steps slow and easy as she still felt the ache in her head.
She got to the dining and met her mum and dad already eating.
“Oh darling, you’re finally here” Mrs Houston said with relief. “I was about coming up to get you myself”.
“Good morning mum. Good morning Dad” she mumbled perfunctorily, taking a seat.
“Morning, Honey”. Mr Houston replied
“Good morning love. How’re you feeling now?” Mrs Houston asked, staring at her face observingly.
“I don’t think I’m fine, mum. I still feel terrible” Valerie grumbled, her hand on her forehead.
“But why honey? Those medications should be strong enough. Why aren’t you feeling any better?” Mrs Houston asked worriedly.
“I think she should be taken to the hospital for a better check up. Why don’t you go this morning?” Mr Houston asked suggestively.
“I have an appointment, dad. We could just do that tomorrow” Valerie answered and her mother nodded in agreement.
“I’m so sorry, honey. You’ll be fine okay?” She said.
“Thank you, mum”.
A few minutes later,
“Dad, what about the fashion company? Have they gotten back to you?” Valerie asked anxiously.
Her dad was the one trying to get the job for her with his connections.
“Not yet dear. But I should be getting one tomorrow” he replied and Valerie nodded and continued eating.
God! She was soo nervous. Working in that famous fashion company has always been her dream and she couldn’t wait to achieve it.
There’s no way they could reject her right? Of course, not. Not when she had someone like her father.
“Honey, you haven’t touched your fish sauce. What’s wrong?” Mrs Houston asked when she noticed the plate was still quite full.
“Oh! I hate fish” Valerie answered irritatingly, pushing the meal far away.
“What’re you talking about, Valerie?” Mrs Houston scoffed.
“Fish sauce has always been one of your favorites”.
Valerie paused abruptly as the thought dawned on her. That was actually true. She’s always loved fish sauce. But how come it was now irritating to her?

The young pretty lady walked towards the door and stopped when the guards’ expressions indicated they wanted her to stop.
Silence took over for the next few seconds, then she laid her request.
“I’m here to see Jericho” she stated anxiously, hoping she wouldn’t get the usual reply.
“This isn’t the right time” the first guard replied, his voice so icy and immediately, a scream from the room was heard; an agonizing
It was the voice of a woman.
Sylvia sighed and looked down at the floor. Then, back at the guards.
“When he’s done, can you tell him I came over?” She asked and they only nodded once.
Then, she turned around and left.

Inka was waiting patiently for her and as soon as she spotted her coming, she wore that look of *I told you*.
“You couldn’t see him right?” She asked as soon as Sylvia got close to her and she just nodded dolefully and she just nodded sadly.
“Goodness! How do you cope with that guy, Sylvia?” They started walking together.
“I know he’s the prince, but…”
“Enough, Inka” Sylvia cut her off and she went shut.
“I’m tired of the lectures”.
They were silent for a short while, then Inka continued.
“So, he actually lost your necklace?” She asked, ignoring the fact that she was ruining Sylvia’s mood the more.
“That necklace was precious to you, Sylvia and you’d given it to him as a gift to remember you with when he was on earth. Yet, he lost it”.
“It was a mistake, Inka. How many times do I have to tell you that? He said it must’ve fallen off his neck while he was on a mission”. Sylvia paused and turned to look at her.
“I’d advise you to stop speaking ill of Jericho because the day he finds out, you should know you’re dead” she added and walked away.
