Valerie could hardly sleep through the night as she kept tossing restlessly on tbe bed, thinking about Hapitha’s offer.
She kept imagining what it would be like, seeing him again and breaking the news of her pregnancy to him.
What would be his reaction? Will he be happy? Or sad? Or act grumpy as usual? Gosh! she’d Love to know it.
But somehow, she felt disturbed and wondered if she’d be able to survive in such a strange land. What if it was an offense? Or she doesn’t get accepted?
No; she was very sure with Jericho by her side, she should be able to make it. Definitely, he would protect her.
She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. God! She was so confused. What about her mum? Her dad? She was very sure they wouldn’t let her leave for such ridiculous reasons. She was very sure of it.
Goodness! What does she do?? She was so confused.
She continued turning and tossing on the bed until dawn.
******************
It was 9 a.m. and Valerie was still in bed. Not sleeping, but just lying weakly.
She’d thrown up twice and still felt very dizzy, but her eyes wouldn’t go close in sleep as her mind was just troubled.
A part of her wanted her to just remain there on earth and give birth to the baby, but another part of her wanted her to tell Jericho about it. It wouldn’t be so nice to have his child without him getting to know about it right?
There was a knock on the door and Valerie rolled her eyes, hoping it wouldn’t be her mum.
“Who is it?” She asked grumpily, touching her forehead and just then, the door opened with one of the maids coming in.
“Good morning, ma’am” she bowed and greeted politely.
“Sorry to disturb, but your mother wants you down for breakfast”.
Valerie hesitated before sitting up. Her father was likely to b there as well.
“I don’t want to go downstairs. Just bring my meal here for me” she answered tiredly and the maid bowed and left

Few minutes later, the maid returned with her meal, but her mother was right behind her
Oh God…
“Valerie” she called with that worried expression of hers.
“What is the problem honey? Why wouldn’t you come down for breakfast?”
The maid placed the meal in front of her and left the room while Mrs Houston quickly sat on the bed.
“Good morning mum” Valerie mumbled
“Good morning honey. How’re you feeling? I was so worried when the maid told us you weren’t coming down for breakfast”. Mrs Houston said.
“I’m fine, mum. Just needed to eat here” she grumbled as she took up her cup of tea and gulped some quantity down.
“Okay, then. We didn’t have the time to talk yesterday, you know? And I’m sorry for that. I just don’t want you to feel bad at all, honey. About what your father said to you. I know you were hurt, but I want you to know I’m deeply sorry and ready to support you in every way possible. But you need to àbort this baby, honey. I don’t think it’s good for you”.
Valerie was shocked. Whaat??? Àbort the baby??
She stopped eating and looked at her mum.
“How can you ask me to do such a thing, mum?” She scoffed. “How can you ask me to do kill my own child? My first seed?”
“Because it isn’t right. Think about it, honey. The father isn’t even aware you have a child for him and will probably never know because he’s an alien! You need to think carefully about it and make the right decision”.
Valerie lowered her gaze to the floor, suddenly feeling weak.
Make the right decision. Really? Make the right decision.
***********************
Valerie parked the car by the roadside and spotted Hapitha there on her usual spot, sitting on the floor. Was she really doing the right thing? Could this be it?
She placed her head on the sterling and thought for a while. Then, taking a deep breath, she opened the door and went out to meet her.
Hapitha was staring down at her beeds, but she knew the moment she was no longer alone as Valerie approached her. And a small smile crept into her lips as she lifted her head to look at her.
“You came” she stated with her mischievous smile.
“Welcome, Valerie”.

Valerie laid on the bed in the dusty room just like Hapitha had insisted.
After meeting her in front of the bar, she’d insisted Valerie followed her to her residence. And although, she didn’t want to do so in the first place, she just had to agree since she was in dire need of her help.
She was lying on the bed with so many strange substances around her. Was she really safe?
“Close your eyes dear” Hapitha muttered, holding a tiny pot in her hand.
“You’ll be going to sleep soon. And the next your eyes goes open, you’ll be in Atlancia”.
Atlancia. Was that the name?
She took in a deep breath and did as she was instructed, making her eyes go closed and in a short time, an overwhelming diziness took over as the last thing she could hear was Hapitha sniggering.

Valerie’s white eyes went open and staring at the sky, she could tell she was in a different place.
