Tammy took Valerie’s hand and ran towards the scene with her, even before Valerie could have the chance to consent or not. What was she talking about? Jericho was about punishing someone? She couldn’t understand…..
They arrived there and stood amidst the crowd, where they could clearly see what was going on. Valerie could feel that usual heaviness in her heart as she stared at Jericho, standing a little distance from where she was. There was a man, kneeling in front of him while guards surrounded them. The crowd wouldn’t stop mumbling to themselves, although Valerie couldn’t get a thing out of what they were saying, especially with the fact that her attention was pinned on Jericho.
Valerie could tell his eyes looked darker…. more icy. She couldn’t believe it was the same guy she had spent so much time with on Earth.
“Please, My Prince” The man on his knees pleaded.
“Please, I’m begging you; I won’t do it again”.
“You should’ve thought about that, before you tried to steal from me” Jericho stated coldly, staring into his palms.
“I know, I know. It wasn’t in my intentions to ever disobey you, My Prince. Please….” Before the man could have another chance to say a word, Jericho drew out his sword from the sheath one of his guards was holding, and within the twinkle of an eye, slashed it through the man’s neck.
“Hah!!” A loud gasp was heard from the crowd as the man’s head came rolling off his neck.
Valerie’s eyes dilated in shock as her lips dropped open, brows furrowed.
“Oh, creators!” Tammy muttered with her palm going over her eyes, wishing she could un-see what she had just seen.
“Prince Jericho can never be less – nasty, can he?”
Jericho, having no glint of emotion on his face, dropped the bloodstained sword on the floor and walked away with his guards, except for two who stayed behind to clean up the mess.
The crowd started dispersing immediately, everyone having a glum look on their faces and muttering some inaudible words.
Valerie, she just stood like a statue, unable to believe what had just happened. So bad, she wanted to believe she was just dreaming and it wasn’t a reality.
No; there was no way it could had been Jericho. No way.
“Hey, Fiona” Tammy touched her arm, and instantly, she put her hand over her lips and ran to a corner where she threw up heavily.
“Fiona!” Tammy called in shock, running towards her.
“Are you alright? Oh! Don’t tell me this is your first time seeing such. I shouldn’t had taken you along”.
Every single thing Tammy said didn’t matter to Valerie as they couldn’t change the fact that what she had just seen, wasn’t a dream, but reality. Jericho…. Jericho killed someone right in front of her. Ripped his head off simply because he stole…..
Oh, no….
She threw up again.
“Fiona!” Tammy flinched.
“Oh, my; are you sick?”
Valerie couldn’t say a word.
“Oh, my…. I’ll get you some water” and she ran off afterwards, leaving Valerie alone to weep.
Her hand went over her belly as tears came strolling down. And just then, Monhana’s words reflected back at her:
*I don’t know how Prince Jericho acted on earth, but over here, he’s different; entirely different – you might be so shocked when you see him*
Oh, no….
Now, it made sense…Now, it made so much sense. The Jericho she had seen and gotten to know on earth, was totally different from what he really is. He’s….she didn’t know how best to describe him – ripping someone’s head? Simply because he stole? Oh, God!
She wept more, her mind rotating around the fact that she was actually pregnant for the same guy. This same guy that was the reason she took the risk of coming to a strange land. Only to discover he’s a…. beast.
Oh, God; what has she gotten herself into?

Max stood in front of the mirror as he brushed his hair. His friends were right behind him – trying so hard to be patient.
“Hurry up, Max. We only going to the palace to work. It isn’t like we’re going for an occasion or something” one of his friends – Pete – grumbled as he had become too impatient already.
“Calm down, guys. Are you forgetting there are lot of pretty girls at the palace? We might get so lucky. Besides, I heard the room we’re working is next to Prince Jericho’s room. I might find favor in his sight, you know?” He chuckled as he dropped the brush and dipped his hands into his trouser pockets.
“Are you talking about the same Jericho that derives joy in killing? Or a different Jericho that was born few days ago?” Lincoln scoffed.
“Yeah, both” Max brought the necklace out from his pocket and wore it round his neck.
“Hold on; you’re going with that?” Pete asked, looking surprised.
“Yes. I might see someone who likes it and would want to buy it, you know?” He shrugged and smiled at himself in the mirror.
“Come on, now; let’s go”.
And together, the three friends left the house, headed for the palace to work.
