Valerie and Tammy walked into the kitchen and found the rest of the workers already busy as bees.
Valerie was so cold and although, Tammy had asked her countlessly for a possible reason she was cold, she still wouldn’t say a word. And Tammy decided it was due to the blood she had seen the Prince spilling that morning.
“Come on, everyone! Let’s clean up this place!” Tammy clapped her hands and the maids increased their paces.
Valerie went into the closet where she changed her dress, and by the time she was done, she was directed on what to do and as she washed the dishes, she felt so weak and dizzy.
Oh, God; could it be possible she was overstressing the baby? She really needed some rest.
She looked around and noticed no one was staring at her. If only she could just lie on the floor and sleep off.
Shortly, Madame Nana walked in.
“Fiona!” She called and Valerie turned to look at at her.
She noticed she was standing with a boy, the same boy she had seen her with the previous day, staring at her.
Okay; Why was she calling? Valerie wondered.
Madame Nana called again and this time around, she left what she was doing and went ahead to meet her.
“Good morning, Madame” Valerie said humbly with a lowered gaze.
The rest of the workers around were also stealing glances.
“Good morning, Fiona. How’re you doing?” Madame Nana asked warmly.
She was dressed in a big gown and looked really chubby in it.
“I’m…. I’m fine, Madame. Thank you” Valerie answered and a short silence stepped in.
Valerie could tell the boy with her had his gaze solely on her face. If she wasn’t mistaken, he had a little bit of resemblance with Madame Nana.
“Please, come with me” Nana touched her arm and Valerie had to follow her out of the kitchen room.
She was really hoping there wasn’t a problem.
Valerie, the woman and the boy all walked out to a quiet passage. And that was the point they stopped walking.
“Fiona” Madame Nana called calmly.
“I want you to meet my son, Aiken”.
“Hi” the boy waved at Valerie, revealing his bad dentition.
He was somewhat handsome, but his dentition was nothing to write home about. So , he was Madame Nana’s son? She thought as much.
“H-hi” Valerie reciprocated, wondering the reason for the introduction.
“My son would like to have a word with you, Fiona. So, I’ll leave you two alone”. Madame Nana smiled and walked away, leaving the two alone.
The heck?? What was this for??
She looked at Nana as she walked away, then turned to look at the boy who was already grinning at her.
“Hey, Fiona” he moved the bristle of his front hair away.
“Um… How’re you doing?”
“I guess I’m fine. Thank you” Valerie answered perfunctorily, trying so hard to keep her cool.
“Okay” Aiken sighed.
“Well, like you heard, I’m Madame Nana’s son and… yesterday, I had spotted you entering into the palace and noticed you were very beautiful. Fortunately, you were actually coming to work here and it’s so good to know my mum is in charge”.
Valerie gawped at him with a look of: *Whatsapp your point in essence?”
“The thing is” he touched his jaw.
“I like you, Fiona; like your personality, your humility and would want us to get close. Maybe….if you’d be mine”
He shurgged, while Valerie looked at him in shock. For real??
“Oh…” She scoffed and blinked rapidly.
“But… you don’t even know me. How come you like my personality?”
“Oh, come on; I can identify a good catch when I see one”. Aiken chuckled.
“A catch?” Valerie repeated. “That is what you think I am…..”
“No, no, no. Please… don’t get me wrong, Fiona. You’re special to me and I….”
“Can I at least, have some time to think about this?” She cut him off, just wanting to go away from his sight.
“Um…Okay, sure. I’ll be back tomorrow. How about that?’ he beamed, but Valerie simply nodded and walked away.
“Have a nice time, Fiona!” He chuckled from behind.
*********************
Max and his friends hit nails and woods as they tried to fix the broken door.
They’d been working there for quite some time and felt so privileged to have something doing in the palace. Tho, it could only be once in a while ; whenever there was a broken door or ceiling.
They worked diligently, saying little to each other as they wanted to finish the work in time until suddenly, they spotted Prince Jericho coming towards their direction.
Oh; not really to their direction, but he was headed for his room which was right after the one they working on.
“It’s the Prince!” Pete announced in a husky whisper, and the three boys stopped working immediately as they stood and got ready to bow to him when he walks pass.
Jericho walked with two guards behind him, his long black robe sweeping the floor and his hands crossed behind his back.
He was headed for his room and got to where a group of boys were, all standing and blowing to him.
“Greetings, My Prince” they chorused.
Jericho was never the type to spare glances, but he got hooked when something caught his attention ; something familiar.
He stopped abruptly, whipped his head to the sides of the boys and had some flint in his eyes when he found the necklace – the same necklace he had left with Valerie – hung around the boy’s neck.
Whaaat????
