“What’s wrong with her, nurse?” Jeremy asked the school nurse, giving a glance to Alicia.
“She’s just having a bit of restlessness, nothing too serious” she said.
“Will she be fine?” Jeremy inquired
“After an hour rest or two, she definitely will” she said.
“Alright” Jeremy said and walked back to where Alicia laid. He adjusted the duvet on her body.
“The nurse said you just need rest, you’ll be fine” Jeremy said and she nodded.
He sat on the chair and brought out his phone, finding Rebecca’s name on his message list, he clicked on it. The message he had last sent to her last night was still lying there unanswered.
Out of curiosity, he had been forced to search for her number last night after her revelation with strangely couldn’t stop bothering him; it took time but he was able to find it and he had sent her a text after it.
*Hey? I understand you’re not really in your best of moods but we really need to talk, please?* He sent the text and immediately it delivered.
He sighed softly.
“Jeremy?” Alicia called him and he answered her, putting his phone away. “It was me who asked for Rebecca to be transferred” she said.
“What? Why?” He asked, sitting up.
“I feel scared when I see her. Her threats; I don’t know but they haunt me a-and-
He voice suddenly starts to crack up as tears filled her eyes.
“Hey, it’s okay” Jeremy quickly went to seat beside her and held her. “It’s okay. You don’t have to say it” he said, patting her.
Alicia sniffed.
“You’re not mad at me?” She asked, her brows narrowed.
“Mad at you? I’m not. Why would I be?”
“She’s your friend” Alicia said subtly.
“Well, um kind of and I’m not mad at you. Now, stop talking and get some rest so you can heal up soon enough” Jeremy said and she nodded, wiping her tears.
“Will you stay with me until I wake up?” She asked.
“Um.. yeah but I need to tell Harrison where you are. He’ll be worried” he said and waited for her to approve before he walked out.
Jeremy got out of the medical office and the small building reserved for it. He went to the school’s and was about using the stairs when he found Harrison heading towards the class block.
“Harry?” He called, running to meet him.
“Hey, I’ve been looking all over for you and Alicia. You both just left me all alone at the cafe” he said, a frown creasing his brows.
“I’m sorry, man” he apologized “Alicia suddenly felt unwell and I took her to the nurse”
“What?” Harrison stiffened. “How? Is she okay?!” He asked worriedly and curiously.
“Yes, yes.. she’s fine. She-
“Come-on, I need to see her!” Harrison cut him off and began running towards the nurse’s building.
“Alicia!” He called when he arrived at her where she was. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared at him. “What happened to you? Do you feel sick?”
“The nurse said she just need some rest, she’ll be fine after it” Jeremy answered.
Harrison stared at Alicia, as if waiting for her agreement. She nodded.
“Should I call your parents. You should go home and get proper treatment” he said.
“No, don’t call them. I’m fine” Alicia said.
“But-
“Harrison?” She cut him off. “I will be fine” she said and he let out a rough sigh.
“I heard the news. It’s Rebecca, right?” He asked.
“Yes” Alicia nodded. “She scares me a lot” Alicia said, her voice breaking like she wanted to cry.
“That evil-
“Harrison,” Jeremy interrupted. “You need to let her rest. The nurse said she needs it” she said.
“Yeah, right. I’m sorry,” he said, standing up from the bed. “Get some sleep, okay? I’ll be right here if you need anything” he said, adjusting the duvet on her.
Harrison stepped away from her to give Fiona a call and inform her about Alicia’s situation.
Jeremy went to meet him after the call. He was pacing.
“Can you stop doing that? Alicia will be fine” Jeremy cautioned.
“Yeah, I know” he stopped and let out a sigh but his face still beared all epitome of worries.
“Can I ask you something?” Jeremy asked.
“Yeah?” Harrison gave him a look.
“How many months has it been since that incident, I mean since Rebecca pushed Alicia from the third floor?” He asked.
“I’m not sure. Four, maybe” he said.
“And they have been in the same class ever since? Shouldn’t they have been like, separated since the incident?” He inquired.
“They would have after Rebecca’s expulsion, but Alicia insisted that she could cope with Rebecca in the same class. We all tried to talk her out of it, I mean Rebecca’s a psychopath, she might want to do it again but Alicia insisted. So, the principal made her promise that she’ll speak up once she starts to feel uncomfortable or strange and Rebecca will be transferred to another class or school right away and an agreement was signed” Harrison explained.
“Oh. But she has been coping ever since the incident, why is the effect happening now?” He asked.
“I’m not sure but I heard Rebecca’s been threatening her” he said.
“Ohh..she said that?” Jeremy asked.
“No but there is a possibility that it’s true. Rebecca never liked her anyways, and Alicia, she’s so fearful she wouldn’t even tell anyone” Harrison said, feeling sad.
Jeremy sighed, getting even more confused.
Harrison sighed and suddenly started walking away. “Where are you going?” Jeremy asked.
“I need to inform principal Finn about this so he can call Alicia’s parent. We can’t keep this to ourselves” he said.
“But she said not to” Jeremy said.
“She’s sick. Who listen to the words of a sick person?. This is serious and if she won’t speak up, then I will” Harrison said. “Don’t keep your eyes off her and don’t tell her where I went to, I’ll be back” he added and walked out.
Jeremy stared until he was out of the door and walked back to where Alicia was. Her eyes were closed.
His phone suddenly beeped just as soon as he sat. He checked it and stared at the message before opening it, sitting up.
It was from an unknown number and an unfamiliar one too.
*It’s Rebecca. Let’s meet at the parking lot. I’ll tell you everything*
The message read, causing Jeremy to sit up. He stood up and turned to head out
“Jeremy?” He heard a slight ruffle of his name.
He turned and found Alicia staring at him.
“Yes?” He answered, walking to her.
“Where’s Harrison?”
“Um..h-he went out for a while” he said.
“Are you leaving?” She asked.
“Yeah. I just need to see someone, I’ll be back”
“Can you stay with me. I don’t want to be alone”
His phone beeped again, be checked. Another message from Rebecca.
*Class’s is starting soon. Five minutes is all I can give*
The message read.
“Please stay,” Alicia said and he faced her again. “At least until Harrison arrives” she added, pouting her lips at him.
