“She started it my king. I was just lying on my bed when the confessor walked in and started saying insulting words to me.
I was confused because I had not offended her and when I tried to ask her what was the reason for her harsh words, she slapped me hard and started raining abusive words on me.
I couldn’t take it any longer and I made to leave the room when the confessor pulled me forcefully by my hair.
She had me that she hated me so much because she felt that I was gonna take her position from her because of how hardworking I am. She also told me that she has always been jealous of me. And so…”
“Keep it shut!” The king yelled angrily at her and cold shiver ran down her spine and she shuddered in fright.
“You still have the guts to lie to me in my face!” The king yelled furiously at her, clenching and unclenching his fist, trying hard not to hurt her so badly for the fact that she’s still recovering.
“Draco!” The king called, his voice cold and hard. Draco walked in and bowed his head.
“My king…” He bowed his head.
“Take this liar to the torture room.” The king ordered icily.
Sweat suddenly broke out from her forehead and her body trembled in fear.
“You’re gonna be tortured till you decide to say the truth.” The king huffed and with that, Ciara was forcefully led out by Draco.
“Oh no! My king please don’t do this to me! I’m sorry. I’ll say the truth.” Ciara begged as Draco finally dragged her out.
The king scoffed angrily abd rubbed his temple.
He sighed and sat on his bed.
………..
Isabelle stirred the meat inside the pot and closed it.
“Wow! Just the meat aroma has got me salivating already.” Choice smiled at Isabelle.
“The taste would be better.” Isabelle said, washing her hands in the sink. She turned off the faucet and cleaned her hands with the kitchen napkin.
“So tell me Isabelle, how did you learn how to cook this good? Only the aroma would make one salivate and the taste itself, you would want to eat more.” Choice said, with her back rested against the kitchen cabinet with Isabelle staring at her.
“Well…” Isabelle’s voice cracked. The question was gonna make her remember her dead sister.
But she wanted to answer Choice answer.
“Well, my older sister Tabitha, taught me. She was a very good cook because she learnt it from my mother. And my mom was a great cook – Tabitha always boasted about that. And so, I guess I just inherited it too apart from being taught.” Isabelle shrugged, trying hard not to break down in tears thinking about her late sister that till date, her body hasn’t been going – not as if she has been searching for her body.
“Wow! That’s great. So, where is your sister and mother?” Choice asked innocently. If only she knew that her question was gonna bring bad old memories, then she would have kept her mouth shut.
And besides, she wouldn’t want Isabelle to feel bad.
“Well, they are both dead.” She said perfunctorily, trying hard not to cry.
“Oh my! I’m so sorry for your loss. I shouldn’t have asked you if I knew it was gonna bring back bad memories you probably shouldn’t remember.” Choice said apologetically, feeling remorseful and guilty.
“No, it’s fine. You didn’t know and that was why you asked ; if you had known, you wouldn’t have asked so, it’s fine.” Isabelle said with a sad but reassuring smile.
“I’m so sorry for your loss Isabelle, I’m really sorry.” Choice said with a sad sigh.
“It’s fine Choice, don’t get too worked up with it.” Isabelle insisted.
“Alright.” Choice sighed.
“So, how are you feeling now?” Choice was quick to change the topic because of the dull atmosphere.
Isabelle wasn’t smiling and she looked lost in thought. She sniffed and touched her forehead lightly and sighed.
“I’m better now.” She replied with a shrug.
“Good to hear that.” Choice nodded her head.
Isabelle turned back to the meat and turned off the stove.
…………..
“So, you mean you’re just gonna let her be? That hot confessor? You want only your brother to enjoy her while you continue to have a hard on by just staring at her?” Prince Marvin, prince Kalen’s friend asked.
“What do I do? She clearly doesn’t want me even when I told her I was gonna help her remove the Rada’han from her neck.
And when I tried to get her by force, the king caught me and thank goodness, my mom had to beg on my behalf.
But I’m not so sure I’m gonna be lucky this time around if I try anything stupid and my brother, the king finds out. He might have me locked up and my mother wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it.” Prince Kalen said and smoked his cigar.
“Keep the excuses aside! Don’t you wanna have her?” Prince Marvin asked, already feeling impatient by prince Kalen’s long explanations.
“I want her so damn much that just thinking about her gives me a hard on.” Prince Kalen said truthfully and puffed out smoke from his mouth and nostrils.
“Right. Then let’s think of a plan together because I want her too.” Prince Marvin smirked and smacked his lips together.
Prince Kalen glared at him and rolled his eyes.
…………
The queen, king Ceasar’s mother and him, sat on different seats, facing each other.
“So mother you sent for me.” King Ceasar groaned lowly.
“Yes I did. And it’s concerning you and the confessor.” His mother said with a suspicious look on her heavy make-up face and her body well adorned too.
“What do you mean mother?” The king asked with a crumpled look.
“You brought the confessor here to the palace because you wanted to punish her right? You wanted to treat her badly for the offense of her sister. Isn’t it?” The queen asked, with all seriousness with her eyes peering into her son’s soul.
“That’s true mother but I still don’t understand where you’re heading to.” The king sighed and placed his hand on his forehead.
“The first time she was brought here, you punished her but suddenly, I noticed that she’s even glowing and adding more flesh every day.
You even made her the head of all the maids in the palace.
If truly you’re punishing her like you intended to, it would have been written all over her but she doesn’t look like one that’s being mistreated. In fact, she looked better than when she first came here.” The queen said with a mischievous smile.
“That’s my business mother and not yours.” The king said.
“Whatever is your business is also mind because you’re my son.” The queen grinned.
King Ceasar was confused – he didn’t know what was amusing his mother to make her smile like someone who just won a lottery.
“It’s just you and me in this room.” The queen whispered at him and stared around suspiciously.
“So, tell me king Ceasar…are you perhaps in love with the confessor?”
