Kaylan stayed awake all through the night, contemplating on what Xander had said.

He sounded so serious that she was a super scared. She touched her stomach and stared down.

No pregnancy? For the rest of her life?

No.

She couldn’t live like that, she wouldn’t be able to.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

Kaylan jolted as soon as Xander’s voice was heard. She turned and saw him staring at her.

“I couldn’t sleep.” She mumbled a reply.

“Why?”

Silence.

“Answer me, Kaylan.” Xander demanded. “I’m protecting you from what I know might happen. What do you want? To leave me here and die?”

Kaylan looked sharply at him. “But…what are you talking about? The curse has been broken. What are you afraid of?”

“Come.” Xander whispered, stretching his hand toward her.

Kaylan sighed and took it, moving closer to him. Xander hugged her to himself, closing his eyes.

“Sleep. Sleep, my princess.” He said in a soothing voice.

Kaylan couldn’t object not say anything. She slowly closed her eyes and slept off.

Jaden strolled to the palace garden the next morning. She saw lots of maids working on the farm and stood at a spot, watching them.

Someone stole up behind her, pulled gently at her hair. She turned around with the intention to attack but her mouth clamped shut when she saw it was Akim.

“Huh? Why did you do that?” She asked, moving backwards.

Akim shrugged. “I don’t know either. What are you doing out here so early in the morning?”

Jaden sighed and shook her head. “I’m feeling somehow lonely now. I thought it would be a great thing for Kaylan to be with Lord Xander but now, it’s telling on me.

“No. Don’t look at me that way… I’m happy she’s finally making progress with her husband.” Jaden added when Akim made a face at her.

“What if I take you out for some fun? That will make your boredom disappear.” Akim asked with a grin.

Jaden’s eyes widened. “Really? Are you really gonna do that for me?”

“I don’t have a choice, you know. I know you like me, Jaden. No need to pretend.”

Jaden stared down with embarrassment. “Well…as a friend, Akim. That’s all.”

Akim laughed. “You were jealous when you saw me with that maid. I did that on purpose to see how you’d react.”

Jaden scoffed. “You are so cheap!” She started walking away as Akim started to laugh.

“Let me know when you are ready to go out!” He called behind her.

Madam Nadine knocked on Anya’s door with a solid look on her face. She waited for a while and was about knocking again when the door opened and Anya stepped out.

She was surprised to see the woman in front of her door.

“Good morning.” Anya greeted.

“I will be brief.” Madam Nadine said, maintaining a very straight face. “It’s high time you left the palace.”

Anya stared at the woman and moved closer. “Did I do anything wrong?”

“You’ve always done something wrong immediately you started sleeping with my married nephew.” Madam Nadie replied.

Anya scoffed and looked at the woman. “That’s not for you to decide…if I stay here or leave. It’s for my Lord to decide because he owns me.”

“I’m just giving you a heads-up of what to expect very soon, if you don’t leave, Kaylan will be the next to knock on your door. Leave nicely.” Madam Nadine said. She turned and left the premises.

Anya leaned on the door and folded her arms. She still couldn’t believe that Xander and Kaylan were now in love.

It was still very hard to believe that Xander was going to let her leave the palace.

She shook her head with a big frown on her face. “No. I’m not gonna back down without a fight. This is all your fault, Sharon. It’s all your fault! You made me lose the only chance of being with Lord Xander, you made me lose my baby.” Anya mumbled, angry tears trickling down her checks.

“I won’t back down without a fight. I will deal with you before I go down.” Anya promised with determination in her eyes.

“It went bad for you, didn’t it?” Mansi asked, coming in with two cups of tea.

Sharon crossed her leg on the bed and shook her head sadly. “After everything I did to get his attention, after all I did to separate Kaylan from him, I still can’t believe they are madly in love now.”

Mansi smiled as she handed one of the coffee to Sharon. “I’ve always warned you about dangerous it was, didn’t I? Immediately I saw Kaylan, I knew she was the one who’s gonna finally find favour in the sight of the cold hearted Lord Xander and see? It’s happening.” Mansi said as she sipped from her cup.

“The princess lesson is over and I think I have to stop coming.” Sharon said, staring into her cup.

Mansi looked at her. “Why? The princess lesson is over…yes but that doesn’t mean you should stop coming to pay is a visit. You are my only friend.”

“I know, okay? But I can’t just bear seeing Lord Xander and everything around here, it will only remind me of my failure.”

“Oh no. I’m so sorry, Sharon. I will come and visit you whenever I have the chance.” Mansi said with a smile.

Sharon smiled back but didn’t say a word.

“I will send message across to my father to send some guards to accompany me home.”

Mansi made a face. “Do you really need to do that? There are lots of guards to do that, okay?”

Sharon nodded and stood up. “I will go get prepared now.” Sharon walked towards the door and left the room.

She got outside and walked towards the stairs only to see Anya waiting for her.

“Here comes the witch.” Anya attacked even before Sharon could get closer.

Sharon scoffed as she stopped in front of her. “What did you just call me?”

“You must be feeling like a hero after you let me lose my baby, right? How do you sleep at night?” Anya asked, edging forward.

Sharon stood her ground, glaring hard into Anya’s face. “Do you even know who you are talking to?” Sharon asked.

Two guards walked past them and we’re somehow drawn to what was going on.

“What are you looking at?” Sharon barked at them and the guards continued on their way.

“I don’t want to know who I’m talking to, that’s none of my business. What I want right now is to make you feel the pain I went through when you made me lose my baby.” Anya said with all the anger in her.

Sharon smiled and looked straight at her. “What are you gonna do about it? We are both losers, aren’t we? The sooner you get that into your head, the better for you.” Sharon said and was about walking past her when Anya drew her back with her hair, grabbed her with all her energy.

“What are you doing!” Sharon yelled, fighting back to save herself, but Anya was so ready for her.

She started dragging her to the stairs, she looked up and saw some guards coming but before they could get closer to save her victim, she hurled Sharon over the stairs.

Sharon screamed all the war down and passed out immediately she landed on the ground.

Anya stood there, smiling triumphantly as she stared down at Sharon’s sprawled form.

Lord Xander sat on his throne, glaring at Anya who was kneeling before him in the middle of the throne room.

He was speechless and didn’t know what to say. His anger wasn’t about the fight, it was the fact that Anya was not scared right now.

She was staring back into his eyes.

“Why did you do it? Why did you attack princess Sharon?” Xander was finally able to ask.

“Because she deserves it, I don’t have any regrets whatsoever.” Came Anya’s bold reply.

Xander stood up with authority, his face masked with fury. “How dare say such things in front of me? Do you have a death wish?”

Anya took her gaze to the floor and remained quiet.

“You will be severally punished, starved…” Xander was interrupted with Kaylan’s presence in the throne room.

She walked in and the guards bowed as she made her way towards Xander.

“Princess… what are you doing here?” Xander asked her, taking her hand.

Kaylan turned to look at Anya and stared back at Xander. “Can’t you just let her go? It’s high time she left.” Kaylan said.

Anya stared up at Kaylan boiling with anger but she couldn’t say anything because she knew what Xander was capable of.

Xander looked at Anya and nodded. “You’ve been set free, Anya. Your services has been long overdue and it’s time for your freedom.”

Anya looked up, years glistering in her eyes. “I don’t want to be set free from you. Let me remain your humble slave forever!” She cried.

“Take her away and see to it that she leaves the palace.” Xander ordered.

Two of the guards moved forward, picked the crying girl up and dragged her out of the throne room.

Kaylan smiled as Xander pulled her up so she could seat on his laps. “Thank you for finally getting rid of her, I was very uncomfortable.”

“I should have gotten rid of her before now. Forgive me, my queen.”

Kaylan smiled and placed her head on his shoulder. “I will be visiting my kingdom in two weeks time, I can’t wait to see my mom and my super annoying dad.”

Xander smiled at that. “I give you all my support and permission. You deserve to see your family.”

Kaylan smiled happily. Everything was turning out so well for her! It was a dream come true.

****Two Weeks Later****

Kaylan sat on the bed, putting some clothes together. She was going to visit her home today!

Oh! How long has it been?

She continued smiling happily as she put together some pretty wears.

Xander came out of his study, saw her packing up and walked towards her. “Why did you insist on rejecting the personal maids my aunt got for you? You are a queen and should not be doing this.”

Kaylan rolled her eyes. “I’m fine Xander, I prefer taking care of my own stuffs and taking care of you too.”

Xander sat beside her and touched her face. “Do you want me to come with you?”

“Oh no, don’t. You don’t have to worry about me, I’m going with Jaden and besides, you have so much to attend to because of the
upcoming royal banquet.”

“I want you to be back before then. I need you beside me.” Xander said softly and Kaylan nodded.

Suddenly, her face changed and her hands ran up to her throat. “Oh no….this wield feeling again.” Kaylan mumbled with her eyes closed.

Xander searched her face, immediately worried. “Are you okay?”

“I’ve been feeling a little bit sick since last night. I thought I would be over it by this morning but it’s coming on strong.” Kaylan mumbled.

Xander pulled her closer, pecked her hair. “I will call the physician immediately.”

“I don’t think that’s necessary…” Kaylan gasped and sprang up to her feet. She took off and ran straight into the restroom.

Xander stared at the restroom door, a puzzled look on his face. He didn’t need to go see what Kaylan was doing because he could hear her loud and clear.

Kaylan was throwing up!
